In my thirty years as a photojournalist, first as a staff photographer for United Press International (UPI) and then as a freelance shooter for Getty Images, I’ve had the good fortune to photograph some of the most interesting events of our time. My assignments have ranged from presidents, celebrities and major sporting events like the Superbowl and World Series, to forest fires, floods, and plane crashes. From patrolling with the Discovery Channel’s Animal Cops and dogsledding with a renowned polar explorer, to a photo shoot with rapper Eminem and documenting a president’s funeral, I am always honored and humbled to be able to see history as it is being made.

I am also a portrait photographer. I love creating portraits! Whether it’s a private portrait commission for an individual or an environmental portrait assignment for a magazine or corporation, knowing that my subject’s portraits will be cherished forever by their mom, dad, spouse, children, grandparents, relatives and friends is the reason why I do what I do. A portrait is more than a picture; it’s a revealing moment in time in the life of a unique and special person, captured forever, to be remembered forever.

My work has appeared in hundreds of newspapers, books and magazines worldwide including Life, Time, Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, People, Fortune, Forbes, Business Week, Entrepreneur, Audubon, Scientific American, Vanity Fair, Travel & Leisure, Ladies Home Journal, Vogue, Rolling Stone, USA Today, and The New York Times.
